Un Gigante – Allegory of illustration

Francisco de Goya y Lucientes

Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) is considered one of the most relevant painters ever and his mark in the history of art is huge.

His fame grew and in the 1780s Goya became the portraitist of high society fashion in Madrid. Nine years later, King Charles IV named him a painter in the king’s chamber and to the Spanish Crown.

The artist is recognized for his works of religious theme, his portraits and, of course, also for the paintings in which he immortalizes historical moments in his harrowing Disasters of War series, or the famous paintings about the war between France and Spain (1807–1814).

In 1812 Goya painted “Un Gigante” Alegoria de la Justicia, 62.5 x 55.5 oil canvas painting, a powerful painting that is currently considered one of Goya’s masterpieces.

Is signed by Goya, and registered with the number 16 in the inventory of goods (dated 1812) of the house of Goya after the death of Goya’s wife, Josefa Bayeu.

The Painting should not be confused with the painting "El Coloso", which has been exhibited at the Prado Museum since 1931. They are different paintings.

Until it was bought by the Ventura collection, “Un gigant” was in Seville – Vila de Arahal, in the collection of one of the descendants of the house of the Dukes of Ossuna, whose family was Goya’s more important maecenas and patron.

Art as an Investment

Art has always been one of the best investments throughout time mostly driven by the wealthiest segment of society – now accessible to everyone.
By tokenizing the painting, we can divide the painting into several virtual parts, parts that will be represented by tokens.

When buying ARTG, you will be investing in art without the complications that buying art pieces brings (place to store it, making sure it is genuine, a big investment, and so on) but keeping all the advantages.

Traditionally, classic paintings do not lose value in bear markets, and are even considered a refugee asset in times of crisis, making them a safe investment.

This asset has performed significantly better than others in recent years, as illustrated by Knight Frank, among other sources:

Asset Tokenization

Asset tokenization refers to a process whereby extrinsic value tokens are created backed by a physical asset such as a painting, allowing them to represent the rights over the underlying asset.

Each token represents a distinct portion of the artwork and grants you the privilege to participate in the painting's proceeds, earnings, income, and potential sale.

By acquiring these tokens, you gain a unique stake in the painting, opening doors to a world of investment potential and artistic appreciation. Our aim is to provide art enthusiasts and investors like yourself with a chance to own a tangible piece of art history without actually purchasing the asset.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring a seamless and secure token sale experience. We have implemented robust measures to safeguard the authenticity, provenance, and value of the artwork, providing you with confidence in your investment.

Un Gigante

In 2017 was studied by the Portuguese Catholic University who issued a scientific report on the work, and in 2018 were submitted to expertise coordinated by Professor Daniel Carrasco, carried out by traditional methods, and also to scientific studies to confirm the existence of micro-signatures of Goya under the painting, according to the method of technical and scientific analysis of Professor Antonio Perales Martinez.

With the recourse of scientific methods, modern computer optical recognition technology, laboratory research and the most modern techniques of analysis, it has been proved since 2008 that Goya not only signed his paintings in the usual way, but that all of his work is really permeated by his miniature signatures, monograms and symbols.
Goya was a genius predecessor of” steganography”, which refers to the science of hiding messages in images. In his case, these are the proper four letters of the signature ” G-O-Y-A.”

Finally, In 2019 “Un Gigante” was presented in Madrid to the general public and included along with other Goya masterpieces in the new raisoné catalog launched “GOYA – De la luz Y de las Sombras”, released on May 29, 2019 relaunched the thematic about Goya’s work, and the genius of a masterful and powerful painting named “Un Gigante” Alegoria de la Ilustracion.

Un Gigante of Goya is well described by Professor Daniel Carrasco:

“a universal Icon of art, which weighs like a slab, and is a true Totem in the artist’s gallery, it will undoubtedly be “La Alegoría de La Ilustración. “

Un icono universal del arte, que pesa como una losa, y resulta un verdadero Tótem en la galería del artista, sin duda alguna será La Alegoría de La Ilustración.

  • What is ARTG?

ARTG is an ERC-20 Token ( token built on top of the Ethereum blockchain ) where each of these tokens represents a part of the “Un gigant” painting.

  • How it works?

By tokenizing the painting, we can divide the painting into several virtual parts, parts that will be represented by tokens and by acquiring these tokens you are investing in the painting.

When the painting is sold, you will receive a profit. Alternatively, if you wish to cash out before the painting is sold, you can also sell your ARTG peer-to-peer to other investors.

  • What is the purpose of ARTG?

Provide the possibility for anyone to invest in a art masterpiece regardless of their money available to invest.

  • Getting started / How does one acquire Goya Giant Tokens?

For now you can only buy ARTG on P2PB2B but we are working to have the token available on other exchanges.

  • How can I sell ARTG?

    1. After the painting is sold, we will buy all the remaining tokens at the painting sale price.

    2. You can also sell some or all of your peer-to-peer ARTG tokens to other investors.

  • Can I make money with this token?

Once you invest in ARTG, you earn the right to share in any potential profit when the painting is sold. Subsequently, the amount of money you earn is directly proportional to the value of the painting itself once sold, plus additional expenses .

If you want to withdraw your invesment before the painting is sold, you can do it by selling your ARTG tokens to other investors. Since your tokens are backed by a real painting, the value will be proportional to the current market value of the painting.

  • Is there endless supply of tokens?

No, only 100 million tokens were created and no more can be generated/minted.

  • Can I see the painting after I invest in it?

No, while the painting is in the Security House it will be impossible to see it, but in the future we would like to put the painting in a museum so you and anyone else can see it.

  • Why do Goya Giant Tokens have value?

The token has value because it is based on a real asset

  • If I buy more than 50% of the tokens will I be the owner of the painting

No, although we intend to keep more than 50% of the tokens since we believe the painting will sell for more than the current market value, the tokens only allow you to have a part of the profit after the painting is sold, not the ownership of it.

  • How long until the painting is sold?

For now our goal was to put the painting in a museum and wait for it to appreciate in value, then we would start thinking about selling it, but if during that time an offer is made with a value that we believe the painting is worth, we would have no problem selling it sooner.

  • Can giant token become worthless?

Since tokens are directly linked to the painting itself, and given the importance and significance of it, is practically impossible for tokens to be worthless.

  • Who is in charge of Goya Giant Token?

The ventura collection is the one in charge of the token.

  • What are the risks of the giant token?

All forms of investment, including the Goya Giant Token, are vulnerable to risk. The value of an investment is determined by market forces and can therefore fluctuate in both directions. If the painting sells for a price higher than the market price at which you purchased the token, you will make a profit. If you are selling “ARTG Tokens”, there is no guarantee that you will locate a buyer willing to buy them at the desired price.
